How can AI help you practice speaking Japanese?Three features, chosen by what you need

“I said it, but how did it sound?” “What should I practice today?” Here are the AI features in Space for those moments.

1. Record your voice and listen back

Shadowing means speaking along just behind the lesson audio. When you send a recording, the AI review shows “What went well” and what to “Focus on next”. You can see what worked first, then pick one thing to fix.

✓ What went well

↻ Focus on next

♫ Hints for each line

Timing, missed words, and the beats of Japanese: long vowels, the small っ and ん

▶ Compare

Your recording next to the lesson audio, plus what the AI heard

Say the review points out that a long vowel came out short. Play just that line from the lesson and from your recording, and try it once more. Knowing what to practice next is what makes the review useful. Pitch accent may come up as a hint, but it never lowers your rank. A review of Good or Great also completes the lesson.

The free plan includes 5 AI reviews a month. Your recording is sent to our server only when you press “Send for review”. The AI can mishear, so use its advice as a pointer back to your recording and the model audio, not as a test of your Japanese.

2. Let Home choose today’s practice

Once you sign in, “Today’s picks” on Home lines up a conversation to hear and lines that are due for another try. With Casual, each task comes with a short practice tip, like “Recall the line before looking at the model”, and a short look back on how today’s line felt before and after practice.

If you only have a few minutes, open Home and do the first task. You don’t have to decide what to study.

3. Get a suggested next step from an AI coach

With Platinum, the AI coach looks back on your recent shadowing reviews and line challenges, then suggests what went well, what to keep in mind today, and one next practice. You can start that practice straight from the feedback.

It works best after you’ve practiced a little. Try an AI review or today’s line first, and ask for feedback the next day.
